Gyaeyoung Song, born in 1965, is a distinguished artist and educator with over 30 years of experience. She graduated from the Craft Department at Seoul Women's University in Korea and later earned a graduate degree in Fiber Art from the Cranbrook Academy of Arts in Michigan, USA. Since 1991, she has participated in numerous group exhibitions both in Korea and internationally, alongside holding 16 solo exhibitions.

Currently, Song is a professor in the Department of Creative Design & Material Studies at Chungnam National University. Her artistic practice primarily revolves around paper, a medium she has explored extensively for its unique material properties. She has developed handmade paper using various plant fibers and researched diverse techniques of expression. In recent years, she has focused on expanding her practice using hanji, traditional Korean paper, with an emphasis on paper cutting, folding, and geometric structures.
