Young Korean Artists 2025 at MMCA

KOREA

The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA) presents Young Korean Artists 2025, a major group exhibition spotlighting 13 emerging voices in Korea’s contemporary art scene. The show runs through October 2025 at the museum’s Gwacheon location.

Established in 1981 as a platform for rising artists, this long-running series—formerly known as Young Search (젊은 모색)—continues to evolve as a key launchpad for Korea’s next-generation creators. This year’s edition expands beyond conventional boundaries, featuring works that blend visual art, architecture, design, sound, and digital media, with many projects engaging directly with MMCA’s unique institutional space.

The participating artists critically explore the role of the museum, viewer participation, and the physicality of space itself. The brutalist architecture of MMCA Gwacheon becomes both subject and canvas, as installations stretch across its spiral halls, outdoor courtyards, and hidden corners.

Young Korean Artists 2025 not only reflects the urgency and innovation of Korea’s emerging art scene but also reaffirms MMCA’s mission to support new artistic perspectives and interdisciplinary experimentation.
